EPL Matchday 23: Manchester Duo Wins, Arsenal Draw

MANCHESTER – The Manchester duo hailed their victories in the English Premier League season 2022/23, firmed their positions in top three while giving stress to the leading team Arsenal.

Manchester United beat Leeds United 2-0 at Elland Road on Sunday, securing three points in their second meeting within four days. They drew 1-1 at Old Trafford last Wednesday.

The Whites and the Red Devils played without scoring for most of the game time. Marcus Rashford stood out in the 80th minute to net the opening goal, as well as his thirteenth goal in the last fifteen matches.

18 years old Alejandro Garnacho locked the visiting team’s win five minutes after with a fantastic power shot, also the Argentinian’s third goal this season.

United is now in third place with 46 points, five points behind Arsenal but two more games played.

The number four Newcastle drew 1-1 against West Ham at home, collected three consecutive draws and now five points behind Manchester United.

City Get Closer to Gunners

Manchester City defeated Aston Villa 3-1 at Etihad Stadium in a Sunday focused game, getting closer to the Gunners with only three points gap as one more match played.

Arsenal could only draw 1-1 against Brentford at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Leandro Trossard contributed his first goal since he joined the home team, while the Bees grabbed one point by the equalising goal from Ivan Toney.

The top two clubs will meet each other in the battle of the throne this Wednesday night. The City will surpass the Red London to rise to the first place with the same points but better goals difference, if they won the clash.

Chelsea Draw, Spurs Lost

Chelsea, who spent 330 million Euros in this winter transfer window, are still unable to hail a victory after a 1-1 draw against West Ham in the away game.

The Blue Lions’ newly loaned Portuguese striker Joao Felix scored his first goal since his joining, but Emerson Palmieri helped the Hammers to stay unbeaten in this London derby.

Meanwhile, Leicester City surprisingly crushed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at King Power Stadium, giving the Spurs a big hit in theri mission to return to top four.

Upcoming: Merseyside Derby

The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton will play on this Monday night as the last game of EPL matchday 23.

The Reds were unable to win in their last four league matches, struggling in tenth place with only 29 points, two points behind Chelsea with two games less to play.

The Toffees are standing in eighteenth place, by beating Arsenal 1-0 in their last match to end their three consecutive losses, Sean Dyche has shown a remarkable recovery to challenge Jurgen Klopp’s squad tonight.
