Arsenal beat Newcastle, Man United lost

LONDON – Arsenal still holds a chance in the race for the title in English Premier League season 2022/23, while Manchester United put their fourth position at a high risk.

On Sunday, Arsenal defeated Newcastle 2-0 in the away game, staying behind the leading club Manchester City with one point but one more game played.

An opening goal from Martin Odegaard and an own goal from the home team defender Fabian Schar secured the Gunners’ three points to avoid widen the gap by the Cities.

It might be too late for Mikel Arteta’s squad to get back to the track after two consecutive wins, but the Red London could still expect the defending champion to lose some points in their last four league matches.

After the loss at St. James Park, Newcastle is still in third place with 65 points, two points ahead of Manchester United, having the best advantage to end this season as top four other than Arsenal and Man City.

Man United upset against West Ham

On the same day, Manchester United lost 0-1 to West Ham United at London Stadium, missing the great opportunity to rise to top three by surpassing Newcastle.

Yet, the Red Devils’ poor condition recently made them on the edge of dropping out from top four in the Premier League at the end of this season.

Liverpool on the way to Top 4

Although there is one more game played, Jurgen Klopp’s squad could overtake their great rival by winning all games remaining.

Brighton and Hove Albion is another strong competitor in the battle for the UEFA Champions League ticket.

The Seagulls are now in seventh place with 55 points but only 32 matches played. The Dark Horse expected to gain three points from Everton on Monday.

Real Madrid will play against Manchester City, as the focused match involved the top two favourites of champions.
