EPL: Mighty Unai Emery brings Aston Villa to 5th place

LONDON – Aston Villa is certainly the greatest dark horse in the English Premier League season 2022/23.

The Villans hailed another victory in the EPL matchday 33 on Tuesday night, by beating Fulham 1-0 at Villa Park.

The only score from Tyrone Mings in the 21st minute brought the home team three points, although they were facing a tough challenge from the Farmers.

After the game, Villa had collected eight wins and two draws in their last ten EPL matches and rose to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Among the matches, they defeated Newcastle 3-0 on 15th April, beat Chelsea 2-0 on 2nd April at Stamford Bridge, proving that their performances are even better than the giant clubs or the current top four.

Unai Emery – The Great Spanish

All the credits of Aston Villa’s superb performance go to their club manager, Unai Emery.

The Spanish who took charge of the Villans last October after the leaving of Steven Gerrard, showed a huge success to turn the team from the edge of relegation to a competitor of top five.

The Lions were standing in 14th position when the 51 years old head coach took his job, giving him a mission to prevent the club from being relegated at the end of this season.

The former Arsenal and Sevilla club manager then quickly brings Aston Villa to recover from their low condition, not just marching into top ten in the EPL table, they are now holding a chance to play in the UEFA Europa League next season.

The Villans had won a total of eight league matches this year, the best in the Premier League and more than Manchester City.

Emery’s squad will face bigger challenges in their coming EPL games, including play against Manchester United, Liverpool and Brighton, these match results will decide if they are a true dark horse and able to finish this season as top five or not.

The biggest clash: City Vs Arsenal

The Premier League matchday 33 will continue this Wednesday and Thursday, including the clash of the giants which all the EPL fans focused on.

Manchester City will meet Arsenal on 27th April at Etihad Stadium, this rivalry is considered as the “EPL Final ” which might decide the champion of the EPL this season.

The Cities are now in second place, five points behind the Gunners but two games yet to play, which means they will surpass the Red London if they won two make-up matches.

This scenario leaves Arsenal only an option to hold their throne to the end of May, which is to beat the Blue Moons in the away game tonight.

However, the odds favoured the home team as they have better recent performance and stronger team strength overall.

City won 3-1 at Emirates Stadium on 16th February, it is not difficult for them to double kill Mikel Arteta’s squad this season and retain the EPL title next month.
