Europa League: Arsenal Draw, Man United Close to Last 8

LONDON – The English Premier League duo had a draw and a big victory in the UEFA Europa League season 2022/23 round of 16 first leg.

Arsenal drew 2-2 against Sporting CP in the away game, giving them a slight advantage in the second bout at Emirates stadium next week.

William Saliba scored the opening goal for the Gunners, but Goncalo Inacio netted the equaliser while Paulinho helped the Portuguese club to take a lead.

An own goal from Hidemasa Morita in the 62nd minute gave the visitors a tie.

Mikel Arteta’s squad is pursuing two trophies this season, they are leading the EPL standings with five points advantage and twelve matches remaining.

The Red Devils Recovered

Manchester United quickly recovered from the tragic loss 0-7 against Liverpool last Sunday, by crushing Real Betis at Old Trafford.

Both the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League round of 16 second legs will be completed next week, to decide the quarter finalists.

The fixtures of the Last 8 of both events will be drawn next Friday night.

Upcoming: Weekend EPL

The English Premier League matchday 27 will be played this weekend right after the Europa League competitions.

On Saturday, Liverpool will visit Bournemouth, Chelsea play against Leicester City and Manchester City will be the guests at Crystal Palace.

Manchester United welcome Southampton on Sunday, while Arsenal visit Fulham at the same time.
