Inter Milan march into Champions League final after 13 years

MILAN – Inter Milan will appear in the UEFA Champions League final after a long wait for 13 years.

The Nerazzurri succeeded to double kill AC Milan in the UCL season 2022/23 semi final at San Siro, after a 1-0 win in the second leg on Wednesday night.

The only goal last night scored by Lautaro Martinez in the 74th minute helped Internazionale to eliminate their greatest rivalry with aggregate 3-0.

Inter perfectly avenged their failure back in the season 2004/05, where they were knocked out by Milan in the same stage with total result 5-0.

The three times European champion showed better performance and more efficient attack than the seven times winner in both bouts including last week’s game.

Remarkable strikers lead to success

The Blue and Black Squad’s victory was credited to the remarkable performance of their strikers.

Romelu Lukaku assisted Lautaro yesterday, the Belgian sent in as a substitute by replacing Edin Dzeko, who scored during the first leg.

These attackers trio with high experience and tough spirit or great physical strength, will probably still be the Italian club’s key player in the grand finale.

The Serie A team will meet Manchester City or Real Madrid in the battle of championship at Istanbul on 10th June.

The last time Inter participated in the UCL final was in the season 2009/10, where they beat Bayern Munich 2-0 with both goals from Diego Milito, and was coached by Jose Mourinho.

Huge profit for President Zhang

Inter Milan might probably stand a low chance against the English Premier League powerhouse or the defending champion, but they already gain a huge profit by qualifying into the final.

I Nerazzurri will confirm to get 100 million Euros after they advance into the final. Plus the income from stadium tickets of the semi final and previous stages, they could earn a total of 145 million.

This amount gives Internazionale president Steven Zhang a large subsidy to reduce the club’s debt and some funds to improve the team next season.

The 31 years old Chinese businessman took over the Italian club in 2018 by the name of Suning Holdings Group.

UCL fixtures: City Vs Madrid

After the Milan derby, football fans all over the world are focusing on another Champions League semi-final second leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

This clash of the giants ended with 1-1 at Bernabeu Stadium last Tuesday, giving the Cities a slight advantage to eliminate the defending champion at home tonight.

The Blue Moons expected to put their best formation, including Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and John Stones.

Haaland, who failed to score in the first bout, will be the key player whether the home team can destroy the visitors’ defence.

Today’s battle is probably Pep Guardiola’s most crucial match to lead his club to lift their first ever UCL trophy in history.

However, Real Madrid can never be underestimated, although they are not the favoured side by majority.

The fourteen times European winner knocked City out in the same stage last season, with aggregate 6-5 after extra time.
