Sad London: Arsenal Lost to City, Dortmund Beat Chelsea

Kevin de Bruyne

LONDON/BERLIN – The London duo were each depressed with their losses in the different events last night.

Arsenal were beaten by Manchester City 3-1 at Emirates Stadium in the English Premier League season 2022/23 make-up game of matchday 12, giving the first position to the guest team.

The Gunners led the EPL standings before the battle of the throne with three points advantage. Now, the City took over them with the same 51 points but a better goal difference.

However, Mikel Arteta’s squad still have a chance to reclaim the throne as they have one game less to play.

City’s Brilliant Comeback

Although Manchester City are in trouble with the trial regarding their financial fraud by the Premier League organisation, the defending champion doesn’t seem bothered to play in a top class performance.

By three goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, the visitors cancelled the equalising penalty kick from Bukayo Saka to secure three points.

Pep Guardiola showed his excellent ability to lead his squad to execute a remarkable comeback in the league rally, which they once fell behind the top place with eight points gap.

Haaland who ended his goalless trend in the last three matches, collected 26 EPL goals so far, becoming the City’s player who netted most scores in his first joining season in the club history.

The second half of the Premier League this season is getting more exciting and competitive, the Red London and the Blue Moons are scrambling for the championship for the rest of 15 matchdays, while the Manchester United in number three are looking for an opportunity too.

Money Can’t Give Chelsea Victory

Chelsea, who spent a record of 330 million Euros in this winter’s transfer window, couldn’t bring them a win after four matches played.

The Blue Lions lost 0-1 to Borussia Dortmund at German in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg, having a hard hit to qualify from the knockout stage.

The Bees secured a good start in the two rounds contest with a fantastic goal from 21 years old striker Karim Adeyemi, by running for 70 metres and destroying the visitors’ defence all by himself.

Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly surely won’t be happy with his club’s recent conditions, which were unable to win in their last four games, while standing in tenth place in the EPL.

In another UCL match last night, Benfica defeated Club Brugge 2-0 in the away game, upsetting the Belgian dark horses in their journey of European competition.

Upcoming: Barcelona Vs MU

On Thursday night, the UEFA Europa League play-off round first leg will be played by 16 clubs.

The clash of giants between Barcelona and Manchester United is certainly a focused match.

Barca, who turned to the UEL after finishing as third place in the Champions League group stage, facing the Red Devils who were in second place of the Europa League group stage.

The Spanish club are having great conditions as they had eight consecutive wins, stayed unbeaten for 15 matches and lead the LaLiga with eight points advantage.
