UCL R16: Haaland 5 Goals Helps Man City Crush Leipzig 7-0

Erling Haaland

MANCHESTER – Manchester City marching towards their first ever European championship with an outrageous 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

The English Premier League powerhouse proved their identity as the most favourite of winners of the UEFA Champions League season 2022/23, with a terrifying performance in the round of 16 second leg.

The Blue Moons showed no mercy to the German club, slaughtered them in front of their home fans, and qualified into the quarter final with aggregate 8-1.

Erling Haaland again became the focused star yesterday, scoring five goals in 57 minutes, plus another two scores from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne to create an epic victory.

Perfect Night of Haaland

The Norwegian forward broke several records with his perfect performance last night.

He became the youngest player to reach 30 goals in the UCL event with age of 22 years old and 236 days, also the fastest to achieve this with 25 games.

The City number 9 netted eleven goals in his first eight matches of the Champions League qualification stages.

Erling has collected a total of 39 goals this season, also a new record in club history, yet the season still has two months to go.

He is the third person who scored five goals in an UCL match, along with Lionel Messi and Adriano.

If the Cities head coach Pep Guardiola doesn’t substitute Haaland out in the 63rd minute, who knows the fiery striker could score his sixth goal of the night?

However, Pep didn’t explain the reason he sent the Norwegian off before he broke the five goals record, giving a speculation that the Spanish is “protecting” Messi’s record.

Inter Milan Eliminate Porto

In another UCL Last 16 second leg last night, Inter Milan drew 0-0 against Porto in the away game, advanced into the quarter final with aggregate 1-0.

Internazionale won 1-0 at San Siro three weeks ago with the only goal from Romelu Lukaku.

The Italian giant sealed the Portuguese home team with solid defence, while Porto’s winger Pepe sent off in the 90+7th minute with a second yellow card.

Both Milan clubs are the UCL quarter finalists. AC Milan eliminated Tottenham Hotspur with the same total score of 1-0 last week.

Upcoming: Madrid Vs Liverpool

There are probably three Italian clubs in the Champions League Last 8, as Napoli has a bright chance to qualify tonight.

The Serie A leading team will meet Eintracht Frankfurt at home on Wednesday, having a relaxed situation with a 2-0 advantage.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could only beg for a miracle to overturn the aggregate against Real Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium.

A 2-5 loss at Anfield last month gave the Reds a mission impossible in the second leg to knock the defending champion out.

After the matches above have been played, the UCL quarter finalists will be revealed, and the fixtures of the Last 8 will be drawn on Friday.
