UCL R16: Man City Hunting Red Bull, Liverpool Need Miracle

Pep Guardiola

MANCHESTER – The UEFA Champions League season 2022/23 round of 16 second leg will compete another four matches this week, to decide all the eight quarter finalists.

On Tuesday night, Manchester City will play against RB Leipzig at Etihad Stadium, expecting at least a small win to qualify into the next stage.

Both teams drew 1-1 in Germany three weeks ago, giving the Cities an advantage to beat the Bundesliga club with support from home fans in England.

The Blue Moons are again counting on their top striker Erling Haaland to continue his performance. The Norwegian forward scored a penalty kick in last weekend’s Premier League to help City defeat Crystal Palace 1-0.

Pep Guardiola is carrying a significant mission to lead the EPL defending champion to chase the club’s first ever European trophy, which he is rumoured to leave Manchester after this season.

Porto Vs Inter Milan

In another UCL match on Tuesday night, Porto welcomed the visit of Inter Milan at Estadio do Dragao, hoping to overturn the aggregate.

The Portuguese club lost 0-1 to the Italian giant at San Siro last month, with a precious goal from Romelu Lukaku.

Inter aim at least a draw in Portugal tonight, to advance into the quarter final along with their derby rivalry AC Milan, who eliminated Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Real Madrid Vs Liverpool

On Wednesday, Liverpool could only wait for a miracle to reverse the aggregate against Real Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium.

The Reds lost badly 2-5 in the first leg at Anfield, giving the UCL defending champion a relaxing situation in their second meeting.

The replay of the Champions League final last season didn’t give much excitement as expected, the Spanish LaLiga giant could qualify even if they lose two goals at home tomorrow.

Napoli will probably be another quarter finalist in their second meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt in Italy.

The Serie A leading team showed their outstanding performance this season, almost locked the domestic league title with a huge advantage of 18 points, and able to put a fullpower in the European event.

Europa League: Arsenal and Man United

The UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg will be played right after the Champions League matches.

Manchester United has a relaxing mission on their visit to Real Betis, as they hold a 4-1 advantage over the Spanish club.

Another team from the English Premier League, Arsenal has a tougher situation to play against Sporting CP at Emirates Stadium.

Both drew 2-2 in the first round, the Gunners have to play carefully to avoid an upset in London.

Other focused UEL matches include SC Freiburg against Juventus, Real Sociedad face AS Roma and Fenerbahce meet Sevilla.

The fixtures of the Champions League and Europa League quarter finals will be revealed this Thursday night.
