EPL Matchday

LONDONArsenal returned to number one after a thrilling win against Aston Villa in the away game of the English Premier League season 2022/23 matchday 24 last weekend.

In the first match played on Saturday, the Gunners secured three points in such a dramatic way, beating the Villain 4-2 at Villa Park, two goals from them were scored in the additional time of the second half.

Both teams equaled 2-2 most of the time. Home team’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made an own goal in the 90+3rd minute, giving the Red London a slight lead.

While Villa pushed full firepower to ask for another equalising score, another goal from Gabriel Martinelli five minutes after helped the visiting team lock their victory.

City Lost Two Points From Nottingham

Manchester City failed to overtake Arsenal again and hold the throne, as they could only draw 1-1 against Nottingham Forest in the away game which played afterward.

The defending champion led the first half with a goal from Bernardo Silva in the 41st minute, however, the Forests made a surprise stay unbeaten with a late goal from Chris Wood in the 84th minute.

Disappointed by missing two points, Pep Guardiola’s squad is now two points behind the Gunners with one more game played.

The tie game also gave their Manchester rival, United another step closer to the top two with three points gap.

Unstoppable Rashford

The Red Devils defeated Leicester City 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, staying unbeaten in their last four EPL matches including three wins.

Marcus Rashford continued his terrifying condition by netting two goals, collecting 16 goals in last 17 appearances, as well as scoring for seven consecutive home matches.

Jadon Sancho, who contributed another goal, is getting better after his recovery from two weeks ago after a three month disappearance.

Manchester United is now seven points more than number four’s Tottenham Hotspur, having a bright opportunity to secure a seat for UEFA Champions League next season.

Some more, there is a slight probability that the 13 times Premier League winner could challenge for the title this season.

Liverpool Recover, Chelsea Stuck

Liverpool is getting back to the track after two consecutive wins, by beating Newcastle 2-0 in the St. James’ Park.

The Reds showed no fear against the current richest EPL club, making all goals in the first 17 minutes by Darwin Nunez and new signed striker Cody Gakpo.

Jurgen Klopp’s team rose to eighth place with 35 points, seven points away from Tottenham with two games less to play.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is still struggling to see their first victory in five matches after the winter’s transfer window, where they spent 330 million Euros.

The Blue Lions shockingly lost 0-1 to Southampton, the bottom team in the Premier League table.

The tragic defeat gives the club manager Graham Potter a huge impact, which might accelerate his resignation to bear responsibility for the team’s poor performance.

Chelsea could only make one goal in their last five games, although they have plenty of top class attacking players such as Kai Havertz, Mykhailo Mudryk, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix.
