Chelsea Officially Sacked Coach Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea Coach Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea Coach Thomas TuchelThe English Premier League giant club Chelsea announce to sack their team manager Thomas Tuchel, becoming the second head coach of EPL clubs to be fired in this season.

The Blue Lions had an unremarkable performance in season 2022/23, both in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. They are now standing at sixth place in EPL after matchday 6, with three wins, one draw and two losses, five points behind the leading Arsenal.

In the first match of the Champions League group stage this season, Chelsea lost 0-1 to Dinamo Zagreb in the away game, standing at the bottom of Group E with no point.

The London club made the hard decision on Wednesday, to part company with Tuchel, and they appreciate the 49 years old German coach’s contribution for less than two years.

The Honour of UCL Title

Tuchel joined Chelsea in January 2021, replaced Frank Lampard to lead the club, and signed a contract for 18 months.

He quickly brought the team into top performance, making a record of unbeaten for eleven consecutive matches.

In the UCL event, Tuchel led the Lions to outstanding results, beating Atletico Madrid, Porto and Real Madrid to advance into the final, and defeat Manchester City 1-0 to win their second Champions League title in history.

Besides, he also helped Chelsea to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, completing the year with brilliant achievement.

Ordinary Result in This Year

However, Tuchel faced the stress in the season 2021/22, while his club had an ordinary performance for both the Premier League and UCL.

Chelsea finished the last season of EPL with third place, getting the seat of Champions League for this season. However, in the Champions League, they lost to Real Madrid in the quarter final, by a deciding goal in extra time.

Tuchel was unable to lead the team to win any title in the 2021/22 season, as they had lost to Liverpool in both the final match of EFL Cup and F.A. Cup.

In season 2022/23, Chelsea lost to Leeds United 0-3 in the away game of matchday 3, defeated by Southampton 1-2 in matchday 5. The results left them unable to show their capability to compete for the league title, making Tuchel lose his job just after matchday 6 in this season.

Sacked EPL Coach: Who’s Next?

Thomas Tuchel is the second head coach of EPL clubs to be fired in this season, after Scott Parker of Bournemounth.

It is quite surprising that Chelsea sacked their credited manager, as this is only the beginning of the season.

Media and football analysts are now predicting the next coach to be sacked in this EPL season. Steven Gerrard of Aston Villa, Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City and Steve Cooper of Nottingham Forest, are among the managers who are potentially to be dismissed in no longer time, as their clubs are now struggling in the bottom of EPL standing.
