UCL Match 1: The Show of Haaland and Mbappe

UEFA Champion League Match 1 Highlights

UEFA Champion League Match 1 HighlightsThe UEFA Champions League season 2022/23 (UCL) finished the matchday 1 of group stage on this Tuesday and Wednesday.

The three favourites of champions this season, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain made their victory as the beginning of the new season.

Man City defeated Spanish club Sevilla in the away game, by two goals from fiery striker Erling Haaland, another two from Phil Foden and Ruben Dias.

Haaland continued his top performance from the Premier League to UCL, while making his goals as representing three different clubs in the debut of Champions League, as well as RB Salzberg and Borussia Dortmund. He is also the first player of City’s club history, to score in his debut for both domestic league and European league events.

PSG won 2-1 over Italian giant Juventus in the home match, thanks to goals from French superstar Kylin Mbappe, starting their journey to win the first UCL title with confidence.

Mbappe and Haaland are now the top favourites of UCL’s golden boot winner this season, also Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona who performed a hat trick against Pizen.

Chelsea Lost, Coach Fired

The defending champion, Real Madrid started their mission to hold the title with a 3-0 victory over Celtic from Scotland in the away game.

Madrid’s top striker Karim Benzema had been sent off in the first half due to a knee injury, however, the team were still powerful enough to make goals from Vinicius Junior, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard.

Meanwhile, EPL giant Chelsea lost 0-1 to Dinamo Zagreb in the away game, with the goal from Mislav Orsic in the thirteen minute.

After the loss of their first UCL match in this season, The Blue Lions had announced to Chelsea sack their team manager Thomas Tuchel the next day.

Tuchel had led the club to win the Champions League title in the 2020/21 season. He is the second head coach to be fired in this EPL season, after Scott Parker from Bournemouth.

Dortmund Win, Milan Draw

Another great team from Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund won 3-0 over Denmark club Copenhagen in the home game, thanks to goals from Marco Reus, Raphael Guerreiro and Jude Bellingham.

Although they sold the super attacker Haaland to Man City before this season, The BVB still show their competitive strength to advance in the European competitions, while their matches against The Citizens will probably decide the first place of group G.

Meanwhile, seven times European champions AC Milan could only get a draw against RB Salzberg in the away game. However, they still share the second place of group E with Salzberg, while Chelsea are at the bottom.

The next matchday of UCL group stage will be played on next Tuesday and Wednesday, the focused games are Man City versus Dortmund, Real Madrid against RB Leipzig and Maccabi Haifa facing PSG.
