FA Cup Round of 16: MU Meet West Ham, Man City Vs Bristol

LONDON – The English FA Cup completed most of the matches of the fourth round, and its fixtures of the round of 16 had been revealed on Monday.

Manchester United will play against West Ham United on 27th February, the Red Devils seeking their 13th title after their last championship in 2016.

The Hammers beat Derby County 2-0 in the away game yesterday, booking a ticket in the fifth round.

Meanwhile, Manchester City has a lucky draw to meet Bristol City from the EFL Championship League on the same day.

The Manchester duo and Tottenham Hotspur are the only three giant clubs from the Premier League to appear in the coming stage of the FA Cup.

The Spurs will face Sheffield United or Wrexham, which both are having a replay on 7th February.

The other EPL clubs who qualified into the round of 16 are Southampton, Leicester City, Leeds United and Brighton, which all of them are facing opponents from lower leagues.

Fulham will play against Sunderland in the replay next Tuesday to look for qualification.

Seagulls Eliminates The Reds

In the FA Cup fourth round matches last Sunday, Brighton knocked Liverpool out 2-1 at home, defeating the Reds twice this month, after their 3-0 victory on 14th January.

Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma scored the deciding goal in the 90+2nd minute, destroying the hope of the eight times champions to defend their title last year.

Liverpool’s loss gives their club manager Jurgen Klopp another hit, the Reds have not just been eliminated from the FA Cup and EFL Cup, they are also standing in ninth place of the EPL, ten points away from the number four’s Manchester United.

Although Brighton has sold out a few of key players including Leandro Trossard, the Seagulls is still able to play in high performance in every competition.

City Beat Arsenal, MU Defeat Reading

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 1-0 to get the first ticket into the FA Cup fifth round, thanks to the only goal from Nathan Ake.

The Cities’ victory terminated the Gunners’ desire to win another title this season, other than the Premier League.

Meanwhile, double scores from Casemiro helped Manchester United to eliminate Reading at Old Trafford Stadium.

The Brazilian defending midfielder showed his outstanding ability in attacking as well, plus another goal from Fred secured the Red Devils’ victory.

Upcoming: EFL Cup Semi Finals

United is the only EPL club still fighting in four competitions this season, including the domestic league, FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League.

They will play against Nottingham Forest this Wednesday in the EFL Cup semi final’s second leg, which they have a huge opportunity to march into the final with a 3-0 win in the first round.

However, Newcastle who is rising as a new giant club will be the Devils’ huge threat.

The Magpies are expected to appear in the final by taking down Southampton in another semi final match tonight.
